Bluetti AC70 AC or DC Output Not Working: ECO Mode and Limits

A Bluetti AC70 whose output keeps switching off is most likely in ECO mode. The manual says ECO mode is enabled by default, and that AC or DC output turns off automatically if the AC70 is bearing a low load (less than 40W or the set power) or no load for a while.

Figures on this page are quoted from the official Bluetti AC70 user manual (EU/UK-spec edition), as read on 7 November 2026. Manuals are revised and firmware changes behaviour, so if your own unit's manual disagrees with this page, follow the manual.
  1. Check whether ECO mode is on
  2. Know the ECO thresholds you can set
  3. Check the output limits and the screen icons
  4. Know what Power Lifting Mode does
Work through these in order โ€” each step rules out a cause before the next one.

Step 1: Check whether ECO mode is on

ECO mode is a power-saving mode that is enabled by default. The manual says that in ECO mode the AC and DC output will automatically turn off if the unit is bearing low (less than 40W or the set power) or no load for a while. It also says that when you connect a small power device, you should disable ECO mode for a successful and uninterrupted experience.

To switch it, enter Setting Mode: with the screen on and the AC output off, press and hold the AC and DC power buttons for about 2 seconds until the frequency indicator flashes. In Setting Mode, press the DC power button to enable or disable ECO mode; an icon shows on the screen when it is enabled. Press and hold both buttons again to exit. If you do nothing for 1 minute, the AC70 exits Setting Mode and no changes are saved.

Step 2: Know the ECO thresholds you can set

Bluetti's FAQ says you can turn ECO mode on or off on the screen, and that the power threshold for AC output and DC output can be set to 10W-30W and 5W-10W respectively, for 1, 2, 3 or 4 hours.

Step 3: Check the output limits and the screen icons

The two AC outlets are for appliances up to 1000W, and the manual says not to apply the AC70 to loads higher than 1000W, as this may cause damage to the unit and your devices. The cigarette lighter port is 12V/10A, for 12V DC appliances up to 120W. The two USB-C ports are listed at 5/9/12/15/20V 3A and 20V 5A.

The LCD shows icons for abnormal temperature, connected device overheating, overload, overcurrent, an error code report, and low battery (below 5%). Any of those explains an output that has cut out.

Step 4: Know what Power Lifting Mode does

Power Lifting Mode is disabled by default. The manual says it allows the AC70 to handle high-power resistive loads up to 2000W, such as kettles, electric blankets and hairdryers, if the screen reads OVERLOAD while running such devices. The resistive loads should have a power rating between 1000W and 2000W, and although the AC70 can handle higher demands, its actual operating power remains at 1000W.

In Setting Mode, press and hold the AC power button to enable or disable it. Our reading: it is for resistive heating loads only, not for motors or electronics.

FAQ

Why does my AC70 turn off with a small device plugged in?

ECO mode is on by default and turns the AC or DC output off after a period of low load (under 40W or the set power) or no load. Bluetti says to disable it when connecting a small device.

How do I turn ECO mode off?

Enter Setting Mode by holding the AC and DC power buttons for about 2 seconds, then press the DC power button to enable or disable ECO mode. You can also switch it on the screen or in the app.

Can the AC70 run a 2000W kettle?

Only a pure resistive load, only with Power Lifting Mode enabled, and the manual says the actual operating power stays at 1000W.
